When to Replace

• Engine "Bogs" at Full Throttle: The engine idles fine but dies or loses power as soon as you pull the trigger, indicating a restriction in the high-speed circuit.
• Hard Starting / Excessive Priming: The trimmer requires 10+ pulls or multiple primer presses to fire, confirming the carburetor's internal fuel pump is failing.
• Visible Air Filter Clogging: The pleated paper filter is dark, oily, or caked with dried mud, which starves the engine of air and causes "rich" running (black smoke).
• Fuel Leaks at the Primer Bulb: Gasoline is weeping from the bulb or the fuel line grommet, posing a fire hazard and causing air to enter the fuel system.
• Stiff or Yellowed Fuel Lines: The lines have become brittle or gummy, which can lead to air leaks or "collapsing" lines that starve the engine of fuel.

Installation Tips

• Check the Grommet: When replacing the fuel lines, ensure the rubber grommet in the gas tank is seated perfectly. If it's twisted, the tank will leak fuel when the trimmer is held at an angle.
• The Pulse Hole: When installing the new gasket, ensure the tiny hole on the gasket aligns with the pulse hole on the engine block. If this is blocked, the carburetor will not pump fuel.
• Prime Until Clear: After installation, press the primer bulb until you see fuel moving through the clear return line without air bubbles. This ensures the system is fully bled.
• Air Box Seal: Ensure the A226002030 filter is seated flush in the air box channel before snapping the cover shut. Any gap will allow abrasive dust to enter the cylinder and cause premature engine wear.
• Spark Plug Gap: Verify the spark plug gap (0.024" to 0.026") before installation to ensure the strongest possible ignition.
